About WAP

Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is an open, global specification which gives mobile users with wireless devices the opportunity to easily access and interact with information and services. This is similar in principle to using an internet browser on your PC, but it is on a mobile phone. For various reasons, it is also much less sophisticated than wired web applications. According to OVUM, there will be approximately 40 million WAP phones in use by 2001.
